How do I find which county my land is in?

Look at your property tax bill. It comes from the county treasurer and names the county. Your deed also lists the county where it was recorded. If you only know a rough location, send us the nearest road or town and we will find the county and parcel for you.

Watch for cities that cross county lines. Oklahoma City reaches into four counties. Broken Arrow, Bixby, Owasso, Catoosa, Blanchard and Purcell each sit in more than one. The tax bill is the tie-breaker.

Is selling land the same in every Oklahoma county?

Mostly, yes. State law sets the big rules, like when taxes are due and when the June tax resale happens. What changes is the local office: each county has its own assessor, treasurer and county clerk, and each one keeps its own records and website.

Land itself is what changes most from county to county: city lots in Oklahoma County, prairie in Grady, Cross Timbers in Lincoln, ranch country in Osage. Read the statewide guide →
